Regulations on the English Proficiency Certification

Article 1. Authority
These regulations are constituted in accordance with Article 49 of the NKHC School Disciplines.

Article 2. Objective
NKHC aims to enhance its students¡¦ English proficiency, and strengthen their competitiveness for further advanced study and employment prospects, through the obtaining of an ¡¥English Proficiency Certificate¡¦ prior to graduation.

Article 3. Subjects
Subjects refer to freshmen students of the four-year university program, enrolling in 2005 and thereafter.

Article 4. Standard of Certification
Any authoritative English proficiency test: - TOEFL, TOEIC, GEPT, .. etc. The thresholds are as follows:

Article 5. Procedure
Students of the four-year university program are required to pass one of the aforementioned authoritative proficiency tests before the school mid-term exam in the second semester of their fourth year (that is, the senior of at undergraduate level). The certificate of proficiency, or certified document (including the original and copy) should be handed to the Language Training Section of the Academic Affairs Department, to be entered as evaluation proof that students have successfully passed English Proficiency Certification. Those students who are unable to fulfill the above requirements, may attend the summer session program for Enhancing English Proficiency (two credits). After finishing this course of study, and passing the final test, they will be deemed as having fulfilled the above study requirements.

Article 6. After being examined by the Academic Affairs Meeting, the above regulations were carried into execution, subject to being passed by the School Affairs Meeting. Where further amendments are needed, the above procedures will again apply.
