These regulations are in accordance with the ¡§Ministry of Education, R. O. C. Regulations for Foreign Students¡¨ and the academic regulations of National Kaohsiung Hospitality College (hereafter abbreviated as NKHC).

The Applicant should not be of Republic of China nationality as stated in Article 2 of the Nationality Law and should not be an overseas Chinese students.? For applicants originally having Republic of China nationality, they are prohibited from applying for admission to senior high schools or above pursuant to this Regulation provided that the period of the loss of nationality approved by the Ministry of the Interior is less than eight (8) years.? Calculation of the eight-year period stated at the first proviso is counted until the first day of class set by the respective schools. Students found to have applied simultaneously as an overseas Chinese student and as a foreign national will have their admission qualification cancelled or be deprived of their student¡¦s status.
**Pursuant to Article 2 of the Nationality Law¡Ga person shall have Republic of China nationality under any of the following conditions:
¡]1¡^ His/Her father or mother was a national of the Republic of China when he/she was born.
¡]2¡^ He/She was born after the death of his/her father or mother, and his/her father or mother was ?a national of the Republic of China at the time of death.
¡]3¡^ He/She were born within the territory of the Republic of China, and his/her parents neither be ascertained nor were stateless persons.
¡]4¡^ He/She has been naturalized.
¡¯The preceding Subparagraph 1 and 2 shall also apply the persons who were minors at the time of the revision and promulgation of this Law.

The number of foreign students admitted to each department or graduate program should not exceed 10% of the total number of local students admitted in each academic year. NKHC is responsible for reporting the number of enrollment to the Ministry of Education for approval by November 30th of each year. However students admitted through cooperative relationships and approved by the Ministry of Education are except from the above limitation.

All courses provided by NKHC will be taught in Mandarin. All foreign students are required to take a Chinese language proficiency test, oral test, and all applicable tests for specialized courses prior to registration.

All application materials must be received at the Office of Academic Affairs no later than May 31st of each year. Applications failing to meet this requirement will not be accepted. (We only offer admissions for a full academic year starting in the fall semester.)
A complete application must include the following:
(1) A copy of the completed application form.
(2) Copies of highest degree diploma and official academic transcripts notarized by Embassies of Republic of China, representative offices or other agencies authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (hereinafter referred to as the ¡§overseas missions¡¨).In case of languages other than Chinese and English, English or Chinese translations should be attached.
(3) A study plan written in Chinese.
(4) A financial statement (the fund provided shall sufficiently support your study in Taiwan) notarized by the oversea missions of Republic of China.
(5) Application fee.
(6)Departments vary with respect to requirements for the number of letters of recommendation, standardized test requirements and additional application materials. Please contact the department where admission is sought for additional application information.
Foreign students graduating from the bilingual department (or class) affiliated with overseas Chinese schools within R.O.C. or R.O.C. senior high schools may apply for admission pursuant to the foregoing paragraph with the graduation certificate and transcripts of every semester issued from that school.They are not subject to the restrictions as set out in Sub-paragraph 2 of the foregoing paragraph and Article 12.
Foreign students who have completed a Bachelor¡¦s degree or above in Taiwan and who wish to continue with a Master program or above may apply for admission with the graduation certificate and the transcript for the entire period of study from the R.O.C. university. They are not subject to the restrictions as set out in Sub-paragraph 2 of Paragraph 1.

Under a condition that does not affect normal teaching, the school may enter into academic cooperation agreement with overseas institutions, recruiting foreign exchange students, and may apply the school¡¦s own admission criteria to the foreign students, when considering and admitting foreign students as non-degree students.

KHC shall prepare a roster of admitted and registered foreign students and submit it to the Ministry of Education for recordation by November 30 th each year. The roster shall include the students¡¦ names, nationalities, class standings, and the junior college departments, university departments, or graduate schools to which they belong.

Foreign students whose date of arrival at NKHC has exceeded one-third of the semester shall not be allowed to register for classes.

Those who are unable to keep up with regular course work because of inadequate Chinese proficiency can file a leave of absence. An approved leave of absence authorizes the student to return without reapplying to the university. Those who are accepted but not able to enroll in accordance with the due schedule can submit an application and have their admission retained for one year.

The KHC Academic Affairs Office shall be in charge of personal support, academic guidance, examination and information distribution for foreign students after their being granted admission.
11. Students will be required to withdraw form school and may not thereafter re-apply.
12. Upon completion of their course of study at NKHC, the student¡¦s admission to higher academic levels shall be handled in a manner identical to admissions for local students.
13. Upon registration, foreign freshmen should present all relevant documents or proof of medical & accident insurance which was bought abroad and is valid for at least four months from the date of entry into Taiwan. ?As for foreign students currently enrolled at KHC, relevant documents of R.O.C. National Health Insurance and other insurance should be submitted.
The said documents of the insurance bought abroad should be notarized by the oversea missions of R.O.C.
14. Students shall follow the ¡§Ministry of Education Regulations Governing Study by
Foreign Students in the Republic of China¡¨ and related regulations issued by KHC if they encounter any issues not covered by the above regulations.
15. These regulations shall be issued and implemented as soon as they are passed by a meeting of the Academic Affairs Committee and reported to the Ministry of Education for approval.Any revisions made to the text shall not take effect until after they follow the same procedures.
